Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as one of the contestants at the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena is his older sister, and also a drummer. Lee was only two years old when his father moved his family on a trip to the United States. Lee received his first drums at the age of 4 as well as his first large drum set as a teenager. To pursue a career in musician after graduation, he left high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. In his teen years He listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his principal drumming influences. Terry Bozzio also has an influential influence.
